about

In a technology infused culture, advertising and media images show us how certain commodities are very accessible. These images, combined with a shift towards a debt-based culture, have turned these commodities into objects of desire. Items reserved once only for the very wealthy are being marketed to those who will sink into debt to achieve the status the objects imply. The status corp is a forum to question the validity of these messages and our roles as consumers, to document examples of over-consumption and its critique in media and art, and to highlight examples of egregious wealth and the chasm between the very wealthy and the working class.
